Christmas is over, but!

Sure Christmas is over.  The decorations have come down, the tinsel and lights have been packed away in your storage bins.  The nicely

prelit tree has been re-boxed or the fresh tree has been thrown into the trash.  The gingerbread men have found their way to be tucked in next to snowmen nestled next to Santa Claus for another year of hibernation.  Christmas definitely looks over, but….

Christmas is everyday.  The decorations being out on display remind us that the day is approaching in which we celebrate the holiday!  The difference is for those who celebrate the birth of a Savior, Christmas is not once a year, it is three sixty five days a year.  We do not celebrate Jesus one day and pack him away the next.  Jesus is meant to be celebrated daily in our lives.  Christmas might be over for some, but Christmas is definitely still happening today.  So while you packed away the decorations and even the manger set, do not pack away baby Jesus, just yet!

May we daily take time to celebrate his birth, for without him, what would our lives be worth?

May we take time today to offer him praise, for he was born to die on Calvary one day.

May we look to the east and remember the star, that lead the wise men from afar.

May the star remind us to be a light, and share Jesus love with all in our sight.

Christmas the holiday may be over, but don’t pack Jesus away.

As we clean up our homes, toys and shoes, may we remember he cares for me and you.

The stress, the mess, and the gloom, Jesus can help us prepare to bloom.

When we look down, we see our limited toes, but when we look up we know anything goes!

Jesus will direct our paths, shine light on our hearts and give them a bath.

Christmas the holiday may be over, but don’t pack Jesus away.

No matter what we face, we can be sure of His grace!

No matter the weight that our shoulders must bare, be assured Jesus cares!

When life seems battered by raindrops, thunder and lightning, Jesus steps in and calms everything.

Nothing is impossible just call out his name, “Jesus”, he can change you and you will not be the same.

Christmas the holiday may be over, but don’t pack Jesus away.

We head to work, a new year has begun, and we have already forgot the carols we sung.

The ones that glorified Hosanna, the ones that reminded us to adore him!

Yet, we forget in our silent nights, to offer praise to the babe born to bring light!

May our hearts and minds daily remember, that Jesus came for more than the 25th of December.

Christmas the holiday may be over, but don’t pack Jesus away.

I do not know where you are, I am not sure what you do.  But this I can share, Jesus cares.  He cares where you are going and he cares about what you are leaving.  Jesus wants to be intimately involved in all that you do.  Jesus wants to be with you day in and day out, he desires for you to call upon his name and even give it a shout!  This year, make it different, daily acknowledge him and more than just a simple good night prayer.  Give him praise throughout your day.  Cry out to him in your pain.  He wants to converse with you like a friend at a coffee table, but the difference is, he holds all the answers!  He can create doors to open that we have never seen.  He can give direction to the directionless; he can bring life back from death; he can restore, reunite and resurrect broken relationships, lost children, and undeveloped dreams.  Why would we forget about him until the next holiday?

As we draw near to him, he will draw near to us (James 4:8).  If you are alive and breathing, God has something for you yet to do.  It is not too late.  Time has not drawn its last breath.  God has a plan for your life, your children’s lives, your friend’s life!  Get up and get moving, seek him with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding and in everything acknowledge him (Proverbs 3:5-6).  Why?  Because he will make your paths straight!

And when the obstacles come into your life; when there is a big boulder standing in your way – press into Jesus.  Rely on his strength and his wisdom.  Sometimes it seems like we have to figure out the way around the boulder, but the Bible says this:

“Careful! I’ve put a huge stone on the road to Mount Zion,  a stone you can’t get around.   But the stone is me! If you’re looking for me, you’ll find me on the way, not in the way.”  (Romans 9:33, The Message)

Difficult times do not mean that God has abandoned you.  Rock hard places do not mean that Jesus does not care.  Sometimes that hard stuff, those big rocks that tumbled into your path that was clear is Him!  He wants you to press into him, cling to the rock and allow Him to lead you, guide you and direct you.

Choose to keep Jesus out of the box!  We need him daily in our lives not seasonally through our year.  Cling to him, remember him, praise him, talk to him – he cares!  He loves you and wants to help you through every step of your life.  Just call out his name, he will not leave you.

“Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”  (Hebrews 13:5)

He will not leave you, choose to not leave him. Amen.
